The Points System
Blackline Track League is teams racing competition. We have created a new points system to encourage teams to have a balance of riders across ability, gender and disciplines.
Ultimately, the team with the highest accumulated Team Points will win at the end for each round (round winner) and and the entire series (overall champions).
We will also be keeping tally of riders individual points totals to recognise the highest ranked riders across each age group (U19, U23), Gender and Discipline (Sprint/Endurance).
The Rules
Team riders will be rewarded for their performance in the event, regardless of overall position or their grade.
- The points system will reflect the difficulty and prestige of the different finals (A vs B Finals)
- Teams and riders should compete in the highest possible category and final that they are eligible for.
- A finals receive the highest points, B finals receive roughly 25% of the points of the A final
- The points in each (A/B) for each place is roughly 80% of the points for the previous place.
- Points are allocated to each rider, and then aggregated to the Teams Points when they are one of the two best place getters in each race / event (A 3rd rider for the same team will attract individual points, but will not count to the team’s aggregate).
- Team Events do not attract Individual Points
- Composite Teams receive a proportion of the points (based on number of riders in team)
- Events such as some sprint events will have a modified weighting to reflect that obtaining a result occurs with a different frequency than endurance races. The weighting has been carefully designed to ensure balance between Sprint & Endurance disciplines. Individual points do not get weighted.
- Keirin’s – Team Points will be awarded at 50% of standard points for Heats (Finals are 100%)
- Match Sprint – Team Points will be awarded at 125% of the standard points
